Dr. Pat is one of Canton's own growing up in Plain Township and graduating from GlenOak High School in 1996. While attending GlenOak, he participated in Soccer, Diving and Track. He acquired accolades such as Second Team All-Ohio in Soccer and became the Stark County record holder in the Pole Vault. Dr. Pat then went on Walsh University, in North Canton, Ohio, and graduated in 2001 where he majored in Biology, Pre-Med. While at Walsh, he played soccer and was awarded honorable mention All-Conference all four years he attended. Dr. Pat is listed in the top ten in school history in scoring and total points. Throughout his athletic career, Dr. Pat had many season ending injuries. It was from these experiences that he learned about chiropractic and so he decided to become a chiropractor to help those individuals that experienced the same pain that he endured and give them hope. In 2002, Dr. Pat began his chiropractic education at New York Chiropractic College. While attending, he was a member of the Dean’s List and was selected to participate in an internship at the Veteran’s Affairs Memorial Hospital in Buffalo, New York. While in Buffalo, Dr. Pat was a member of the medical staff for the Buffalo Gladiators, a semi-professional football team, the Buffalo Bandits, a professional Lacrosse team, and the National Ta Kwon Do Championships. In March, 2005, Dr. Pat graduated from New York Chiropractic College.
On January 2, 2007, Dr. Pat established McBrearty Family & Sport Chiropractic. He has treated patients of all shapes and sizes varying from the weekend warrior to the professional athlete. Using his knowledge of Chiropractic, Active Release Techniques®, Graston Technique®, Kinesiotaping®, rehabilitative stretches and strengthening exercises, and nutrition, he has been helping patients become well, one patient at a time. Dr. Pat uses a multidisciplinary approach to caring for the patient by working with other medical professionals (Primary Care Physicians, Orthopedists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Massotherapists) to provide the highest quality of care for his patients. He utilizes evidence based methods of care to provide the patient with the most effective treatment so that they are able to become well in the shortest period of time possible.
Dr. Pat has traveled to several events and has provided ART® at several races in Stark and Summit Counties, including the Jackson Night Glow 5K, the Green YMCA Caribbean 5K/10K, the Louisville St. Patrick's Day 5K, the Plain Township Rotary Great Pumpkin Run, and the Akron Marathon.
Dr. Pat is married to his beautiful wife Stephanie, and they currently live in Akron with their two year old "Little Dude", Patrick Gabriel and their new born, Lennon Eoghan, who just arrived on September 23rd, 2010! He will be the first to tell you what a exciting time this has been for his family with two little ones at home. Dr. Pat is still an avid soccer player and referee and is becoming more passionate about his recent hobby, Triathlons. He is one of the Co-Founders of the Stark County Triathlon Club and has competed in 7 triathlons as well as two half marathons along with many other road races. Dr. Pat is proud to return to Canton, OH and Plain Township and takes pride in having the opportunity to give back to both communities.
